What to expect
We drive 30 minutes from downtown Pucón to the base of Villarrica Volcano, where our adventure begins.
30 MinutesWe start the hike from the base of the volcano at 1,200 meters above sea level. This first stage is a traditional hiking ascent.
2 HoursAs we approach the summit glacier, we begin using crampons and ice axes with the help and guidance of our experts.
We reach the summit at 2,847 meters. From here, we enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding volcanoes, lagoons, and forests. We observe the crater, fumaroles, and, if lucky, some lava.
30 MinutesWe begin the descent, combining hiking and controlled sliding down the snow, covering the distance in half the time it took us to ascend.
We reach the base of the volcano, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the office in Pucón.
