Excursion to the Lower Valley and its Welsh Culture

Excursion along the Welsh Settlers Route is a historical journey that retraces the path of the European pioneers who settled in Patagonia in 1865.

What to expect

Start at Punta Cuevas

The tour begins departing from Puerto Madryn towards Punta Cuevas, the historic site where the first Welsh settlers landed. At this point, we will explore the remains of the first shelters and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of their arrival and adaptation to the Patagonian lands, laying the foundations to understand the legacy they left in the region.

Exploration of Gaiman

After the visit to Punta Cuevas, we head inland to discover Gaiman, an authentic Welsh colony on the banks of the Chubut River. This charming town is famous for its rich cultural heritage, reflected in its chapels, tea houses, and architecture. We will visit its most emblematic places, including the historic railway tunnel, to get to know the life and traditions of the Welsh community up close.
