What to expect
A meeting will be held where the guide will not only introduce themselves but also discuss the dynamics of the ascent, as well as check each hiker's equipment to finalize details if necessary. If anything is missing, any required items for the ascent can be rented.
Between 5 and 7 hours of ascent. We will meet the group at the Park Ranger station, who will check all our equipment. Once cleared, we will begin our trek through an area of native forests, then start our ascent along the fishbone ridge. After a tough stretch, we will begin to contour the volcano while steadily gaining altitude. We will have lunch on the way, and after a few more hours, arrive at our refuge where we will have an early dinner and opt to go to sleep as soon as possible, since our second day will be very long.
Approximately 12 hours. We will have breakfast during the early morning and depart for our summit attempt at 4 am. The beginning of the path will be very tough; if there is snow or ice, we will need to use our safety equipment (ice axe and crampons, which we will teach how to use on the first day in a workshop). If the weather permits, we should reach the summit (3776 meters above sea level) around noon. After celebrations and the obligatory photo session, we will begin our descent first towards the refuge area, then head back to the base of the volcano where our services will end.
