Trekking Laguna Cerro Castillo from Villa Cerro Castillo

We invite you to discover one of the most beautiful trails in our region that will take you to Laguna Cerro Castillo, a glacial lake with turquoise waters beneath the imposing Cerro Castillo; along the trail you will have stunning views of the valley and Ibáñez River. We will make this experience memorable by providing all the tools to achieve this challenge.

What to expect

Passenger Pick-Up

The service includes picking up participants from their accommodations in the urban area of Villa Cerro Castillo. For those in rural areas, a convenient meeting point will be arranged.

Cuesta del Diablo Viewpoint

Our first stop will be at the Cuesta del Diablo Viewpoint, an ideal spot to enjoy panoramic views of the town of Villa Cerro Castillo and capture stunning photos. This short break allows for acclimatization before continuing to the National Park.

Cerro Castillo National Park

We will start the trekking route in the Cerro Castillo National Park, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and native forests. Along the hike, you’ll enjoy magnificent views, and upon reaching the summit, you'll be rewarded with the majestic Laguna Cerro Castillo, the towering Cerro Castillo, and the surrounding glaciers. This will be the highlight of the day, combining adventure and a deep connection with nature.

Laguna Chiguay

On the return journey, we’ll stop for photos at Laguna Chiguay, home to endemic flora and fauna of the region. This location offers a great opportunity to appreciate local biodiversity and capture unique memories.

Return to Accommodation or Meeting Point

We will finish the journey by dropping off participants at their accommodations in the urban area of Villa Cerro Castillo. For those in rural areas, we will return to the previously defined meeting point.

What you should know

What to bring
  • Comfortable clothing that allows mobility (clothing guidelines will be provided based on the season and weather), mid- or high-cut hiking boots, a backpack for personal belongings, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water bottle for hydration.
Not allowed
  • No pets allowed, no smoking, no being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, no littering.
Important information
  • Pick-up at accommodation (urban area); if in a rural area, we will define a meeting point.
  • This trail has a medium-high difficulty level. It is crucial for passengers to be honest when providing information about their physical condition and other relevant health issues.
