Favorite Activities in Colombia
The best time to visit Colombia is during its two dry seasons, which extend from December to March and from June to August. These periods offer the most stable weather in most regions, making them perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking in the Coffee Axis, exploring the páramos of Bogotá, and enjoying the beaches in the Caribbean, especially in Cartagena. However, you should be aware that the season from December to January, as well as Holy Week (March/April), is considered high season, which implies higher prices and a significantly greater influx of tourists. If you are looking for whale watching in the Pacific, the months from July to October are ideal, although they coincide with some rains in other parts of the country.
The climate in Colombia is equatorial, characterized by its diversity due to altitude, without marked seasons, but rather dry and rainy periods. The coastal areas and eastern plains are warm, with average temperatures from 24°C to 30°C, reaching highs around 32°C to 35°C, especially from January to March and July to August. In the Andean zones (high plateau), the climate is mild to cold; for example, in Bogotá, average temperatures range from 8°C to 19°C, with highs rarely exceeding 22°C and lows that can drop to 5°C or less on the coldest early mornings, without a specific month of absolute lows or highs due to its equatorial location.
