The best time to travel to the Province of Guanacaste, on Costa Rica's Pacific coast, is during the dry season, which runs from December to April. These months are perfect for enjoying its famous beaches, ideal for swimming and surfing, as well as for hiking and exploring national parks under sunny and dry weather. The high season coincides with the peak of the dry season, especially between December and March, which means you will experience the highest influx of tourists and prices for accommodation and services will be higher.
The Province of Guanacaste has a dry tropical climate (or tropical savanna), with a marked dry season (December to April) and a rainy season (May to November). Average annual temperatures typically range between 25 °C and 30 °C. The hottest months are March and April, when daytime maximum temperatures can frequently reach 34 °C to 36 °C. Minimum temperatures, which are generally recorded at night during the dry season or in the months of December and January, usually hover around 20 °C to 23 °C.
