The best activities and experiences in Puerto Rico
The best time to visit Puerto Rico is from December to April, coinciding with the dry season of the year. This period offers cool, sunny weather with very little rain, ideal for relaxing on its beautiful tropical beaches, hiking in the El Yunque rainforest, and comfortably exploring the historic streets of Old San Juan. However, keep in mind that these months, along with the school vacation period in June and July, constitute the high season. During these dates, the island receives a large influx of international and local tourists, so it is recommended to book accommodation and activities well in advance to avoid limited availability.
Puerto Rico has a tropical and warm climate all year round, thanks to the sea breeze that cools the island. In general, average temperatures remain between 21°C and 31°C. The hottest months are from June to October, with August and September being the times of the year when the highest maximum temperatures are felt, usually around 31°C to 32°C. On the other hand, the coolest period is from December to March, with January being the month with the lowest minimum temperatures, which drop to 21°C or 22°C on the beaches, although in the mountain areas the cold can be felt much more.
