What to expect
The experience begins with the pickup of participants from their accommodations in Puerto Varas. Then, we proceed to the meeting point in the city for a reception and welcome by the guide, along with a presentation of the activity and review of the necessary equipment.
1 HourTransportation to the CONAF office at Volcán Osorno, where registration and final preparations for the trekking activity will take place.
1 HourThe hike begins on volcanic sand and rock terrain (covered with snow in winter), ascending from 1,200 meters above sea level to 1,800 meters above sea level. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Lago Llanquihue and Volcán Osorno.
3 HoursUpon reaching the equipment setup point, all necessary technical gear for the glacier crossing will be provided. A safety briefing will also be conducted before continuing.
45 MinutesBegin the trek across the glacier toward the towering seracs. Along the way, hear the creaking of the ice and observe its formations. Marvel at the crevasses and, if conditions allow, witness icefalls.
1 HourTake a break to rest, capture photos, and enjoy the spectacular views of the ice formations and surrounding landscape.
45 MinutesBegin the descent along the same route, returning to the area where the technical equipment will be removed, and continue descending toward the transportation area.
