What to expect
The hike begins at the Arroyo López area, the starting point for the mountain trail ascent towards the shelters.
After approximately 45 minutes of climbing, the trail reaches Roca Negra, the first notable point of the route in a mountain environment with open views of the park.
From Roca Negra, the route continues through lenga forests towards the Cerro López Shelter, gaining height and panoramic views of the Andean landscape.
Once at the shelter, a break is taken to rest and enjoy the view of Nahuel Huapi National Park and the mountainous surroundings.
From López Shelter, there is the option to continue with an additional 2-hour ascent to Pico Turista, from where wide views of the Andes mountain range can be seen.
After the rest, the return is made by descending the same trail used for the ascent.
