What to expect
The journey begins in San Martín de los Andes to start the trip towards Villa Pehuenia through scenic roads of Patagonia.
You will travel approximately 220 km, crossing mountain landscapes, valleys, and transition areas towards the territory of araucarias.
You will pass through the town of Aluminé and follow the namesake river for much of the route, with natural views of the surroundings.
You will arrive at Villa Pehuenia to explore its peninsulas, bays, and areas surrounded by araucaria forests.
You will admire Lake Aluminé, its shores, and landscapes of water, mountains, and Patagonian vegetation.
You will ascend by vehicle to the edge of the crater of Batea Mahuida Volcano, nearly 2000 meters above sea level, to enjoy panoramic views.
If conditions allow, you can walk to the high-altitude lagoon located around the volcano.
You will descend towards La Angostura, the river that connects Lakes Aluminé and Moquehue.
At the end of the route, you will return to San Martín de los Andes.
