DAY 1

We depart from the city of San Martin de los Andes by vehicle towards the Quila Quina area. After 14 km of travel, we arrive at the viewpoint of this place where we will begin our journey. With our backpacks ready, we will take the fork from the main path to immerse ourselves in a trail where we will cross rivers, summer grazing fields of the community, and a beautiful forest until we reach the Casanova family area. From this point, we continue along the path that will take us to Lago Escondido located at 950 meters above sea level, where we will set up camp to spend our first night and enjoy a delicious dinner while the sun sets over the lake and hides behind the Andes mountain range. On our first day, we covered a total of 13 km walking with an estimated time of approximately 6 hours.

DAY 2

The day begins with a hearty breakfast, then we break camp, prepare our backpacks, and start trekking. We will take the same trail we arrived on but only the first two kilometers downhill until we find the detour that will first take us to the shores of Lake Lacar and then to Ruca Nire. Here the path runs parallel to the lake and we will never lose sight of it until we reach Ruca Nire, where we will set up camp for the night. On our second day, we have a total of 18 km to cover, mostly downhill, with an approximate walking time of 5 to 6 hours.

DAY 3

On the third day, after breakfast, we break camp and continue westward where the forest becomes denser due to the proximity to the Chilean border. This day is shorter than the first and second, with about 4 hours of trekking until we reach the end of the journey, visiting communities that have lived in the area for over 100 years, learning about their customs and ways of life. We finish the day near Lake Nonthue where, after enjoying a delicious snack, we return by vehicle to the city of San Martin de los Andes.
