What to expect
We will meet at the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa to board the tourist transport and start the tour towards the Sillar Route. We will make a stop at the Yanahuara viewpoint to enjoy views of the Misti volcano and the historic center.
We will visit the Añashuayco Quarry to learn about the traditional process of extraction, cutting, and carving of sillar, as well as observe the work done by master stonemasons.
We will learn about the artisanal techniques used to work volcanic stone and its importance in historical constructions in Arequipa such as churches and traditional mansions.
We will take a walk inside the Culebrillas Canyon to observe its rock formations, explore the natural landscape, and learn about the petroglyphs present in the area.
We will end the tour by returning to the city of Arequipa after exploring the Sillar Route and the Culebrillas Canyon.
