Discover the Perito Moreno Glacier: The Living Ice Giant

Discover the Perito Moreno Glacier: The Living Ice Giant

Experience the epic majesty of the Perito Moreno Glacier. This natural wonder offers the unique experience of walking on ice or sailing its turquoise waters. Witness the impressive ice calving; an essential Patagonian adventure that connects you with the untamed nature of El Calafate.

Best season

The best time to marvel at the Perito Moreno Glacier is during the austral summer, which runs from December to March. During this period, temperatures are more pleasant (between 10°C and 20°C) and the days are long (up to 17 hours of daylight), perfect conditions for outdoor excursions such as ice trekking (minitrekking) and close-up boat tours. However, keep in mind that summer is the high season in El Calafate, which means a higher flow of visitors and the need to book accommodation and tours well in advance.

Weather

El Calafate, near the Perito Moreno Glacier, has a cold and dry steppe climate (Patagonian), characterized by strong winds. The average annual temperature ranges between 3°C and 11°C.
