What to expect
Pick up at your hotel in Cusco in the morning and transfer by minibus towards Ollantaytambo, traveling through the Sacred Valley.
Stop for breakfast and start the ascent along the Abra Málaga route until reaching the high mountain viewpoints.
Descent through the jungle until arriving at Santa María, with a brief stop to regain energy.
Continue to Santa Teresa and stop at a local restaurant near the Hydroelectric Plant area for lunch.
You will undertake a hike of approximately 3 hours to Aguas Calientes, where you will have dinner and spend the night at a local accommodation with breakfast included.
Early breakfast and ascent on foot from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu citadel to enjoy the sunrise.
You will tour Machu Picchu accompanied by a guide, visiting its main enclosures with an explanation of its architecture and history.
Descent from the citadel to Aguas Calientes on foot or by bus according to your preference to then continue the return.
Return via the Hydroelectric route and transfer by bus to Cusco, with drop off around the Plaza de Armas.
