Pirque: nature and vineyards

Pirque: nature and vineyards

This rural corner is located just a few kilometers south of Santiago, making it the perfect escape from the city's pace. Pirque is widely recognized for its huasa culture, colonial architecture of old houses, and for being the wine heart of the Maipo Valley, hosting world-renowned vineyards such as Concha y Toro and El Principal. Besides gastronomic tours and wine tastings, the destination is ideal for nature lovers thanks to the Río Clarillo National Park, a protected oasis that preserves the last sclerophyllous forest of the Metropolitan Region.

Best season

The best time to visit Pirque is from October to April. During spring and summer, the days are sunny and perfect for enjoying the Río Clarillo trails or an outdoor lunch; additionally, March is special due to the harvest season, when the vineyards are filled with activities and celebrations around the grape harvest.

Weather

The climate is temperate Mediterranean, characterized by very well-defined seasons and a long, dry summer. The summer months are hot, with temperatures frequently exceeding 30°C during the day, while winters concentrate almost all the rainfall and have cold days with morning frosts.
