What to expect
The guide will pick you up from your hotel to start the adventure to the most representative sites of Rapa Nui. (The order of the tours may change according to the local tour operator's planning)
Our first stop is Vaihu, an Interpretative Rapa Nui Village where you can explore traditional houses, ovens, and chicken coops.
We continue to Ahu Akahanga, a platform with 12 moai surrounded by remains of an unrestored village, offering an authentic view of ancient life.
Ahu Tongariki is one of the island's most famous platforms, with 15 restored moai in an impressive ceremonial formation.
The Rano Raraku volcano houses more than 400 moai in different stages of carving. During our 1-hour walk, you will learn the history of carving and transporting the statues.
After lunch, you will have free time to enjoy the tranquility of the beach before continuing the return to the town.
We finish the tour returning to the town, with a panoramic tour of the island.
The guide will pick you up from your hotel to start this second day of exploration.
At Ahu Vinapu we admire its impressive walls, similar to Inca structures, and the red scoria moai, possibly representing a two-headed female figure.
We ascend to the Rano Kau volcano, whose crater offers one of the best views of the island. Here you can enjoy a complete panoramic view of the landscape.
When Orongo is open, you will learn the fascinating story of the Birdman competition (Tangata Manu), an ancient ritual that defined the island's leader, while touring the ceremonial village and its petroglyphs. When Orongo is closed due to collapse, the visit is replaced by Huri a Urenga, an ahu with an astronomically aligned moai, where you will learn about the Rapa Nui calendar and ancestral sky observation.
We start in the town visiting Ahu Tahai, which has 3 restored platforms and the only moai with white coral eyes.
We continue the excursion to Ahu Akivi, a place with 7 moai restored in 1960, facing the sea.
At Puna Pau we will learn about the “Pukao”, the hats of the moai, carved from a red scoria volcano.
After the exploration, we return to your accommodation.
