What to expect
Pick up at your hotel in Arequipa around 07:30, initial transfer by 4x4 vehicle to the starting point of the hike.
4x4 trip from Arequipa to Pampa Cañahuas, the access point to the volcano and where final checks will be made before starting the hike.
The guide will give instructions, you will check your equipment and receive recommendations for the ascent before starting the hike on foot.
Start of the hike on gradual slopes until reaching the base camp located at 5200 meters, where the camp will be established.
Setting up tents, lunch consisting of soup and pasta, infusion at nightfall and time to rest and acclimate.
Wake up at dawn, equipment check and hot breakfast to warm up before the final ascent.
Start of the most demanding section of the route to the summit of Chachani, arrival at the top will depend on weather conditions.
Time at the summit to regain strength and enjoy panoramic views of surrounding volcanoes such as Coropuna, Ampato, Hualca Hualca, Sabancaya, Misti and Ubinas.
Descent to the base camp with stops to rest and recover energy after the ascent.
Return by 4x4 to Arequipa and drop off at your hotel, estimated arrival around 19:00.
