The Best Destinations to Visit in Mexico
Favorite Activities in Mexico
The best time to visit Mexico is during the dry season, which mainly extends from November to April. These months offer pleasant temperatures and clear skies, ideal for enjoying the beaches of the Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit, exploring archaeological sites like Chichén Itzá or Palenque, and hiking in areas such as Chiapas. The high season coincides with winter holidays (December and January) and Easter (March/April), when prices are higher and tourist crowds are considerable, especially in coastal destinations and colonial cities. If you want to avoid crowds and enjoy excellent weather, the months of November and early December, or late January to March, are the optimal time.
The climate in Mexico is extremely diverse, ranging from tropical to temperate and arid due to its vast size and topography; generally, coastal and southern areas experience higher temperatures, while highlands are cooler. Average temperatures in warm and coastal areas (such as Cancun or Puerto Vallarta) range between 22°C and 33°C, reaching highs of up to 35°C or more from May to September, with lows rarely dropping below 18°C. On the other hand, in Mexico City and other areas of the Central Highlands, temperatures are more moderate, averaging from 12°C to 26°C; maximum temperatures are usually reached between April and May (up to 28°C-30°C), and minimums occur in December and January (around 5°C-8°C).
