What to Do in Zipaquirá

The best time to visit Zipaquirá and fully enjoy its charms is during the drier season, specifically between December and February, and from July to August. This range of months offers a drier and sunnier climate, ideal for marveling at the majestic Salt Cathedral without worrying about downpours, comfortably walking through the beautiful colonial streets of the historic center, and hiking in the natural landscapes of the savanna. The high season coincides with the year-end holidays (December and January), Holy Week (March or April), and long weekends, times when the town receives a large influx of national and international tourists.

Zipaquirá has a cold or temperate mountain climate, influenced by its high altitude in the Andes mountain range, characterized by being quite constant with low thermal variation throughout the year. In general, average temperatures range between 6°C and 18°C. The months with slightly warmer days or higher average maximums correspond to the drier periods, mainly in January and February, when the thermometer reaches daily maximum values of up to 18°C to 20°C.
